Gesundheit FĂĽr Kinder (GFK)

Since 1995, the Woolwich Community Health Centre has offered this prenatal/postpartum program for Low German Speaking Mennonite (LGSM) women and children from Mexico and Latin America. The program is funded through the Public Health Agency of Canada and includes education and supports in the following areas: 

  • Prenatal Nutrition 
  • Breastfeeding 
  • Infant Nutrition 
  • Healthy Eating for the Family 
  • Mental Health 
  • Child Health 
  • Family Planning 
  • Home and Farm Safety 

Translation services are provided. Families may access a pediatric nurse practitioner during the program.  

The program runs in St. Jacobs on Wednesday mornings. Participants are those from the LGSM community who are pregnant, postpartum or have young children. Childcare is provided for 3-5 year olds. Transportation to the program may be available.
